Cody and Owen Feeding Horses

Owen, you are too little to really understand what the horses are all about, but of course you are out there with us when we go out to see them. Cody enjoys calling the to oats and then watching them eat. This spring I hope we can spend more time with them and go for a few rides!

Owen: Week 29

Well Mommy is really going to try to stay up to date with entering these blog entries now. I am caught up as of this post I think so now I will try not to get behind. Daddy really looks forward to reading the updates and seeing any of the new pictures that we have taken while he is away. I think he feels a little more connected to us since he gets to see updated pictures almost daily. Just think how it would be if we didn't have the technology we have now. I remember being in about Grade 5, so about 19 years or so ago, we had these old computers to work on. They only had black and green screens and really didn't do much. The animation was poor and we thought it was so great!! Wow how things have changed. I remember getting "email" and how cool that was. And now with iPhones and all the technology I can send daddy videos of you daily and we can even use FaceTime and look at each other while we talk.
On Feb 7 we went to the nurse so you could get your 6 mo immunizations. You didn't really cry at all. You really are so content. You did well on the charts though you are a bit slow in the gross motor. I think it is because you really hate being on your stomach. But you are doing well over all. You officially 21 lbs. Yes, that is the same thing that Cody weighed at 1 year!! You are hefty and really are heavy to carry around!
Big news is that I can FINALLY feel and see your first two teeth! The two middle bottom ones are here. You did not too bad with the teething. You were a little fussy but it was hard to tell if that was because of the needle or what. Mommy is going to miss your gummy grin. That is probably my favourite baby thing!
We have been getting outside everyday for about 30 mins to 1 hour. It can be tricky with you since you don't sit up well in a slippery snowsuit, but we are figuring it out!
On the 11th I took you and Cody to your first birthday party. I dressed you both in button down shirts and nice pants. You both looked so cute, and we well behaved while we were there.

Tired Cody

Cody you are in a funny stage or age right now. You are sort of in between needing naps and not needing naps. The result? On the days that you don't have one, you pass out almost anywhere in the house! It's cute, but man look out when you wake up. You are the grumpiest bear around!
Nevertheless, when you are awake you are a goofy monkey. You are rarely without your cowboy hat and boots, and are always up for posing for a picture or two.
Some new things you have mastered are usually putting your boots on correctly, twisting and opening door knobs, and learning to pull down your pants by yourself. You are doing pretty good on the potty now, though pooping still seems to be an issue. I am sure you will catch on soon. Though lately you have been telling me "big poop mom" when you poop your pants, and then "I love my poop!"

Owen: Week 28

Well Daddy had to go back to work, but will be back in a few days for grandpa Tom's 60th birthday party. You two are going to stay home with Sito because Mommy really needs a night off. You are too young to understand anyway so it wouldn't be fun for either of you. So during this week there really isn't all that much to say. You have learned a few more tricks, like yelling, sticking out your tongue, and you are making many squealing noises.
The weather has been so nice, that any chance we get I try to get you two outside. But really Owen you kinda cramp our style because you don't like the stroller!!! It really sucks. Really I think it's the wind in your face, so Mommy is hoping that by spring or summer you will like it. Its one of Cody's favourite things to do with Mommy!

Owen: 6 Month Photos

One of the fun things about having a baby is all the nice gifts a family gets for the new little one. It's always a hoot to see what people buy for a baby. One of the best, as in "unique" items was this tattoo shirt that we received from our friends Miles and Eileen. Miles works with Daddy at the rig and we have gotten to know him over the past few years. I have been wanting to put you in it for awhile and it finally fits!
You really can follow any trend you want! You also received the sweater vest and button down shirt as a gift from our friends Ashley and Jon. So I took your 6 month photo of you in it. So sweet little preppy look! From biker to nerd you are set!

Owen: Week 27

So BANFF it is! Once Daddy arrived home, we decided that it would be nice to take a road trip to the mountains with Levi, Uncle Mike and Laurie. None of them had really been to the mountains. Levi also got a new snowboard from us for his Christmas and birthday present and we thought he may like to try it out!
So we packed up in the truck and hit the road. It was a good trip all in all. It of course is never easy travelling with kids because it is so different for you two. Cody was grumpy and whiny a lot due to mixed up sleep schedule and you were actually pretty good. With you still drinking formula, we had to find ways of having it available to you.
We did stop off in Edmonton to go to West Edmonton Mall. Its just something you have to see if you are in Edmonton...for Uncle Mark and Laurie mostly.
One night day rented us a very nice room in Banff which was HUGE! We took you and Cody in the pool there, where you sported a pair of trunks since Cody would not give up his body suit for you.
We had a lot of fun.
After the mountains we headed to the Red Deer area to stop in and see Grandma Davidson who is your Great Grandma on Daddy's side. And after all this time finally got a picture of her with you and Cody.
During this week you also turned six months old. Happy 6 month Birthday sweet boy!
